Forty-four trees, most of them poplars, are in a state of advanced decline and will soon have to be cut down. The majority of these trees line Boulevard Champlain and Rue Stephens. They will be replaced by a variety of saplings that will not only enhance the aesthetics of the area but will be capable of resisting pathogens and urban pollution. Furthermore, a hundred trees and shrubs will be planted in collaboration with Héritage Laurantien.

The Douglas Institute has obtained a permit from the Borough of Verdun’s urban planning department and will begin cutting down the trees in the coming weeks. The goal is to preserve a healthy, green environment for many generations to come.
