Montréal hospitals, the CSSS Cavendish and community organizations are mobilizing to organize the first annual "Montréal Walks for Mental Health".

Hosted by honorary chairperson , Margaret Trudeau, the event takes place Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. and consists of a 5 km walk beginning and ending at Pierre-Elliot Trudeau Park, 6975 Mackle Rd. in Côte St. Luc.

One in five Canadians will be affected by mental illness in their lifetime. "Montréal Walks for Mental Health" aims at raising public awareness, reducing stigma and raising funds for participating community organizations that provide mental health services.

Participants are not being asked to seek sponsors however donations can be made directly to the organizations at the event or while registering for the walk.
