Both this institute and the Douglas will maintain their respective mandates
2013-03-22
The Douglas Institute congratulates the Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal on its new designation. The Hôpital Louis-H. Lafontaine adopted this new title on March 5. This is an opportunity for the Douglas Institute to reiterate to anyone who visits this institute or uses its services that the name change in no way alters the mission and mandate of each institute. The Douglas will remain the 2nd- and 3rd-line resource that it has always been.
As a member of the RUIS McGill, the Douglas Institute supports the training and development of health professionals for the centre and west sectors of Montreal, the west part of the Montérégie, Outaouais, and northern Quebec up to Nunavik. The new Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal is affiliated with Université de Montréal and serves the east end of Montréal, among other sectors.
The mission of the two institutes is to meet needs and provide specialized services in mental health in a complementary and collaborative way.
