Impulsivity tests
Differential Reinforcement of Low Rates Task
This test assesses the animal's ability to withhold a response for a predefined period of time in order to obtain reward. Failure to withhold responding for the time interval is considered an indication of impulsivity. Specifically, responses are reinforced if the animal waits a specified amount of time. If the animal responds before the delay period, the response is not reinforced, and the delay period is initiated form the start. Impulsivity is inferred from the number of non-reinforced responses.
