The Short-Term Assessment of Risk and Treatability (START) clinical guide has been revamped. The new version clarifies a number of assessment criteria, such as the client’s mental state, emotional state and treatability.

The update also includes more precise definitions of critical and key items along with an up-to-date bibliography and a sample START report. These additions will aid in the risk assessment of problematic behaviour in people living with a mental health problem.

The new version of the START guide is available in French from the team page of Anne Crocker, PhD. The English version is a propritey of the BC Mental Health and Addictions services and available on their web site.
