Mrs. Martha Bishop passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, August 26, 2012. She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Bishop spent a lifetime dedicated to volunteering, including for the Red Cross and fifteen years in Guiding (Brownie & Guide Leader, Division Guider, Provincial Camp Commissioner and International Commissioner). She devoted thirty years to the Douglas Institute, including as the Secretary Treasurer of the Beneficiaries Committee and on the Board of Directors.

In 1994, she was the recipient of AMI-Québec's Monty Berger Award for Exemplary Service, and in 1998, the Rights and Liberties Awards (both Quebec's and Montreal's). Mrs. Bishop continued championing patient's rights until June 2011.
