Residents of the Montreal boroughs of Verdun and Le Sud-Ouest have been advised that they must boil water for one minute prior to consumption.

Unboiled water may nevertheless be used for hygiene purposes or other domestic uses.

The advisory issued by the Ville de Montréal this morning will be in effect for an undetermined amount of time. The advisory is required due to upgrades being carried out at the Atwater filtration plant.

This advisory therefore applies to all staff and patients at the Douglas Institute.

Purchasing Department staff are currently distributing bottled drinking water upon the request of the Quality Directorate's Emergency Measures team. Posters were put up in strategic places to inform staff and patients.

Security staff have been visiting the units and pavilions to advise everyone of the situation.

We will inform you when the advisory has been lifted.
