Seeing the crowds of people around the 44 kiosks in the gym of the Centre Champlain in Verdun, you could definitely say that the 3rd edition delivered on its promises…and more!

Visitors had the opportunity to see such a diverse group of presenters, who offered a wide variety of information about what’s available for people with mental health problems as well as how to maintain good mental health. For example, you could learn about housing, psychological help, employment, etc. – something for everyone’s needs, or those of their loved ones. The Douglas Institute, including the Wellington Centre, had several kiosks, including those of the greenhouses and animal-assisted therapy.

The Executive Director and CEO of the Douglas Institute, Lynne McVey, personally acknowledged each of the presenters, appreciating the value of what they offered. “It’s inspiring to meet devoted people who work with such heart and compassion in order to help the most vulnerable in our community and despite all the obstacles that they must face,” she declared.

The conferences held throughout the day attracted a large audience – 200 people, according to Serge Ouellette of the organizing committee. In all, more than 700 visitors came by the Salon, which is almost double that of last year.

At 3 PM, there was a theatre play, Si prêts, si proches, which was presented by the Société québécoise de schizophrénie. A very successful performance which resonated with its spectators.

The Salon Team thanks you!
