2001

The James McGill Chair is awarded by McGill to advance and support the scholarship and research of exceptional academic staff in priority areas of intellectual interest.
NARSAD Michael Kaplan Investigator Award : Gustavo Turecki MD, PhD
This award is presented by the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD).
NARSAD Young Investigator Award : Ridha Joober MD, PhD
This award helps the most promising scientists who are now entering research to generate pilot data necessary for larger grants.

2000

Heinz Lehmann Award : Maurice Dongier MD, FRCPC
He receives the Heinz Lehmann Award from the Québec Association of Psychiatrists. The Award recognizes a researcher who has made advances in care, teaching, and research about mental illness, as did Dr. Heinz Lehmann before her.
Médecin de mérite : Serge Gauthier MD, FRCPC
This title was awarded to him by l'Actualité médicale.
Paoli-Calmette Award : Maurice Dongier MD, FRCPC
He receives this award on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Société française de Psycho-oncologie, of which he is a member/founder.
Patricia R. Barchas Award : Michael Meaney C.M., PhD, C.Q., FRSC
He is presented the Patricia R. Barchas Award in Sociophysiology in recognition of the importance and sophistication of his research, from the American Psychosomatic Society. The Patricia R. Barchas Award in Sociophysiology, established in 1999, is to memorialize Patricia Barchas by furthering the field of sociophysiology, the study of the reciprocal relationships that could lead to long-term change both in social behavior and in physiology.

Ambassador's Medal : Rémi Quirion O.C. PhD C.Q. FRSC
He receives the Ambassador's Medal at the "Gala du rayonnement" for graduates of l'Université de Sherbrooke for his contribution to the advancement of scientific knowledge.
Jonas Salk Award : Judes Poirier PhD, C.Q.
The Jonas Salk Award is presented annually to a Canadian scientist, physician or researcher who has made a new and outstanding contribution in science or medicine to prevent, alleviate or eliminate a physical disability.
Melville Prize in Pharmacology : Tak Pan Wong PhD
This prize is awarded annually to students whose research poster presentation at the Annual Pharmacology Research Day is judged to be the best.
