On October 29, 2009, the Douglas was awarded a level 2 BOMA BESt accreditation, in recognition of its efforts towards the implementation of the Go Green project. BOMA BESt (Building Environmental Standards) is a national program launched to address an industry need for realistic standards for energy and environmental performance of existing buildings.

This accreditation certifies that the Douglas applies best practices in terms of energy, water consumption, waste volume reduction, greenhouse gas emissions, indoor environment and environmental management system. As an example, the Institute has a vast recycling program and has deployed many efforts towards the reduction of energy consumption.
