There are two inpatient service points in the geriatric psychiatry program: the admitting and medical care unit and the psychosocial rehabilitation unit.
Admitting and Medical Care Unit
The Admitting Unit offers short-term psychiatric assessment and biopsychosocial and family services to people suffering from acute psychiatric disorders. It provides cutting-edge treatment to manage crises, help people maintain their independence and level of functioning, and support the skills development of families, natural caregivers and other care providers in order to consistently and effectively meet patient needs.
The unit encourages patients, families, and network partners to become continuously involved in individualized intervention plans and manages discharge to ensure a smooth return to the community.
It also provides medical and palliative care to increase patient well-being and decrease suffering in collaboration with families.
The unit can receive up to 24 patients.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Unit
The interdisciplinary team of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Unit provides medium to long-term follow-up for people in the acute phase of a disease and who have been stabilized but who require psychosocial rehabilitation on their path towards community integration (at home, a supervised residence, or a CHSLD).
Physical rehabilitation is also offered for people with a loss of independence (mobility, daily life activities).
The unit can receive up to 30 patients.
