The unit offers specialized services to adults aged 18 and over with complex, severe, and persistent mental health disorders requiring hospitalization. Its aim is to stabilize overall health, improve functioning, and support recovery, with the goal of improving quality of life and facilitating an eventual return to the community. The unit has a regional mandate, serving the territory of Réseau Universitaire Intégré de Santé et Services Sociaux McGill (RUISSS McGill).
Services are offered to individuals with a medical referral from a psychiatric inpatient unit.
Services include:
- Assessments
- Mental health education (with a focus on medication and substance abuse)
- Psychosocial counselling
- Support for loved ones
The team consists of psychiatrists, patient attendants, nurses, and human relations officers.
