Psychiatric Services with Regional Mandates

Several of the Institute’s psychiatric services have specific regional mandates and serve both the island of Montréal and other surrounding areas. They play a key role in the Institute’s academic mission by engaging in research initiatives that contribute to the development of new knowledge and practices.  They also support the Institute’s teaching activities by offering internships and workshops. 

Intensive Rehabilitation

The Douglas Institute offers intensive rehabilitation services for people with complex disorders who are followed at the Institute or in other care settings in the health care network.

Intellectual Disability and Psychiatric Comorbidity Program

This program offers services to people with an intellectual disability accompanied by psychiatric disorders.

Eating Disorders Program

The Eating Disorders Program provides specialized care for people with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, restrictive eating, food avoidance, and related disorders. The program accepts referrals from across multiple regions. As a centre of expertise, it conducts clinical research aimed at developing preventive interventions and new treatments. It also offers training to healthcare workers.

Dementia with Psychiatric Comorbidities Program

The program offers specialized diagnostic and treatment services for major cognitive disorders (Alzheimer's disease and related disorders) associated with psychiatric problems. The program engages in knowledge transfer of best practices to various partners in the healthcare network.

Several of the Institute's specialized teams offer complementary psychiatric services such as sismotherapy, neuromodulation, and ketamine therapy.
