Research projects funded through the CIHR Spring 2026 competition 

On Thursday, January 29^th, CIHR released the results of its latest funding competition. Researchers at the Douglas Institute were awarded nearly $5.8 million in grant funding.  The following projects received funding: 

Project Grants

• Nicolas Cermakian – The circadian regulation of Leishmania infection by host and parasite clocks. 
• Massimiliano Orri – Leveraging prediction models to optimize mental healthcare service delivery and enhance clinical practice. 
  Douglas Co-PIs and Co-Applicants: Manuela Ferrari, Martin Lepage, David Benrimoh, Gustavo Turecki. 
• Nicolas Tritsch – Structure and Function of Striatal Neuromodulatory Dynamics. 
• Gustavo Turecki – Mapping cellular diversity in the human dorsal raphe: Implications for depression and antidepressant mechanisms of action. 
  Douglas Co-Applicant : Corina Nagy. 
• Tak Pan Wong – Sex differences and population dynamics of social fear memory. 
  Douglas Co-Applicants: Mark Brandon, Sylvain Williams. 

Project Grant – Priority Announcement: Patient-Oriented Research 

• Marie-Claude Geoffroy – Adolescents with depression: education, income, and health in young adulthood. The Douglas Adolescent Depression Cohort linked to longitudinal databases to ages 18-25 years.

• Katie Lavigne – Peering through the layers: Unraveling mechanisms of predictive coding dysfunction in psychosis using depth-dependent ultra-high field MRI. 
  Douglas Co-PIs and Co-Applicants: Lena Palaniyappan, David Benrimoh, Mallar Chakravarty.
