This service, which is part of the Douglas Institute’s Psychiatric Emergency,  provides temporary support to adults who are not under active care and live outside the Institute’s catchment area. The goal is to coordinate and communicate with people after their discharge from the short-term psychiatric intervention unit (UIBP), serving as a safety net for those with urgent mental health needs while awaiting appropriate care.

Access to services requires a medical referral from the Psychiatric Emergency at the Douglas Institute.

Services include:

  • Assessments
  • Psychiatric follow-ups
  • Psychosocial counselling

The team consists of psychiatrists, nurses, and nurse practitioners specialized in mental health.
