The Psychiatric Emergency offers services to adults whose condition requires immediate attention. The goal is to perform an initial assessment to stabilize the situation and allow for a rapid referral to the appropriate services.
Treatment is offered to adults in psychiatric crisis.
Services include:
- Nurse-led triage and assessments
- Psychiatric assessments
- Pharmacotherapy
- Mental health education
- Crisis intervention
- Liaison services to ensure continuity of services
- Support connecting with community resources
- Support for loved ones and caregivers (community resources, Ami-Québec)
The multidisciplinary team consists of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, addiction/substance abuse counselors.
