Psychiatric Emergency

The Psychiatric Emergency offers services to adults whose condition requires immediate attention. The goal is to perform an initial assessment to stabilize the situation and allow for a rapid referral to the appropriate services. 

Treatment is offered to adults in psychiatric crisis. 

Services include:

  • Nurse-led triage and assessments
  • Psychiatric assessments
  • Pharmacotherapy
  • Mental health education
  • Crisis intervention
  • Liaison services to ensure continuity of services
  • Support connecting with community resources
  • Support for loved ones and caregivers (community resources, Ami-Québec)

The multidisciplinary team consists of psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, addiction/substance abuse counselors.
