Short-Term Inpatient Psychiatry and Medical Care Unit 

The unit offers specialized services to people aged 65 and over suffering from a variety of mental disorders, alone or in combination with physical or cognitive problems.  

Its aim is to stabilize the person’s condition, improve quality of life and promote well-being, while considering their physical, psychological and social needs. It follows a biopsychosocial approach, with care focused on the person and their loved ones. 

Services are offered to people referred from the emergency or  transferred from another psychiatric inpatient unit within the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal.  

Services include: 

  • Assessments
  • Mental and physical condition stabilization
  • Pharmacotherapy
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Treatment completion and discharge planning 

The team consists of geriatric psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, patient attendants, social workers,  occupational therapists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and administrative staff.
