Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment Clinic

The clinic offers specialized services to young people aged 17 and under with a previously diagnosed mental disorder, in whom the presence of an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is suspected. The goal is to clarify the diagnostic picture through an assessment or re-assessment for ASD.

Services are available to people with a referral from the Douglas Institute’s Child Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic. The presence of a diagnosed mental disorder is required to access the clinic’s services. In the absence of such a diagnosis, the client will be referred to the Intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder and physical disability (DI-TSA-DP).

In addition to the assessment or reassessment of the ASD diagnosis, certain interventions may be offered based on identified needs, including:

  • Post-diagnostic family support
  • Recommendations for appropriate
  • interventions
  • Collaboration with partners

The team consists of psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and administrative staff.
