The ABC program offers rapid-response services to adults aged 18 and over who are experiencing a mental health crisis or significant instability that may otherwise require hospitalization. The team intervenes within 24 to 48 hours following a referral to conduct an assessment and initiate a brief, intensive follow-up in the person’s living environment. Support typically lasts from one to six weeks, depending on the level of need.

The primary goal is to stabilize the individual’s mental state, support their recovery, avoid hospitalization, and help them maintain their functioning within the community.

Referrals may come from an emergency room visit, other hospitalization alternatives, or various mental health services within the CIUSSS ODIM network.

Services include:

  • Regular home visits over a period of one to six weeks
  • Establishment of a safety net for the individual and their loved ones
  • Psychosocial interventions to help resolve the crisis
  • Close follow-up for suicide prevention
  • Service navigation and coordination to ensure continuity of care

The multidisciplinary team consists of nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, human relations officers, and special education technicians.
